Brahma/Cochin mixed pen day old chicks (straightrun)

Brahma–Cochin Mixed Chicks

Gentle personalities, fluffy feathered feet, and a beautiful variety of colours—our Brahma–Cochin chicks bring plenty of character to the homestead.

This year, our breeding pen includes both Brahma and Cochin hens and roosters in black, blue, lavender, and splash. With both breeds sharing a pen, chicks may be pure Brahma, pure Cochin, or a cross between the two. We cannot guarantee a particular breed or colour.

Our flock

Our focus is on maintaining a healthy, hardy, robust flock rather than breeding to strict exhibition standards. Bringing these birds together is part of our approach to broadening the genetics within our flock.

You can expect variety in feathering, comb type, size, and colour as the chicks grow. These birds are offered as homestead chickens, with the calm nature and generous feathering that make Brahmas and Cochins so well loved.

They’re a lovely choice for people who enjoy large, gentle birds and a colourful flock. Expect light-brown eggs, with laying performance varying between individual birds.

Straight-run chicks

All chicks from our Brahma–Cochin pen are sold straight-run, meaning they are not sexed at hatch. Your order may include both hens and roosters; we cannot guarantee the ratio.

We do not vent-sex our chicks. If you’re looking for chicks that can be identified by sex at hatch, please see our sex-linked offerings.
