🫒 Olive Egger Chickens

Our Olive Eggers are a lively and colourful addition to any flock — known for their gentle personalities, hardiness, and, most of all, their stunning eggs. Each one is a little surprise, both in appearance and in what she’ll lay.

We’ve developed our Olive Eggers as a thoughtful mix of Ameraucana, Welsummer, and Black Copper Marans, bred specifically for egg beauty and variety. Some are first-generation, while others are second-generation, creating an incredible range of colour and pattern in both the birds and their eggs.

These hens lay some of the prettiest eggs you’ll ever collect — shades of olive, mossy green, greyish brown, and rich dark tones, often with a heavy bloom or natural speckling. Every basket is different and breathtaking, and this wide variety of shell colours is our main focus in breeding this line.

Olive Eggers are also friendly, cold-hardy, and heat-tolerant, making them a dependable choice for Canadian homesteads and backyard coops alike. They’re curious, easy to manage, and steady producers, averaging around 250 eggs per year. They typically begin laying at about 24 weeks (around 5½–6 months).

💙 A Note on Straight-Run Chicks

All our Olive Egger chicks are straight-run, meaning they are not sexed at hatch. We do not vent-sex our chicks, as it can cause unnecessary stress to day-olds. Our goal is always the wellbeing of each chick from hatch to home.

If you prefer guaranteed hens, we recommend checking out our sex-linked breeds, which offer higher visual accuracy.

Roosters from this cross are often strikingly coloured, with beautiful feather patterns and gentle temperaments, making them excellent flock protectors and companions.
